National Fitness Day: Saturday, May 2nd
Posted on: April 29, 2020
National Fitness Day, held on the first Saturday in May, is an opportunity to try new ways of becoming fit and healthy! During this stressful time, exercise is also important to maintaining good physical and mental health. This Saturday, get up and get MOVING, any way you can!
Let us know what fitness means to you! Print this card, fill it out, and snap a pic! Share the picture with us by emailing photo@gepark.org, tagging @glenellynparkdist on Instagram, or sending us a message through Facebook. We’ll share the photos we receive on our pages on Saturday.
- Try one of our free fitness videos
- Take a different route for your usual walk or jog (while practicing social distancing, of course)
- Challenge yourself to complete the Glen Ellyn Strong Virtual 5K (it’s free!)
- Test out a new, healthy recipe
- Ban the sofa before 7 p.m.
- Get the whole family moving with this game of Simon Says
You should consult your physician or other health care professional before starting this or any other fitness program to determine if it is right for your needs. This is particularly true if you (or your family) have a history of high blood pressure or heart disease, or if you have ever experienced chest pain when exercising or have experienced chest pain in the past month when not engaged in physical activity, smoke, have high cholesterol, are obese, or have a bone or joint problem that could be made worse by a change in physical activity. Do not start this fitness program if your physician or health care provider advises against it. If you experience faintness, dizziness, pain or shortness of breath at any time while exercising you should stop immediately.
