New Programs Coming This April and May

We’re excited to announce several fun and exciting new programs coming to the facility including Ackerman Kids Zone, Champions of Ackerman, Women’s Self Defense Seminar and more.

Ackerman Kids Zone

Get your workout in as your little ones take part in fun activities like Tot Tumbling, Arts and Crafts, Story Pajama Time, and other formats with the brand-new Ackerman Kids Zone, available 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Sign your child up for monthly unlimited classes ($20/month for the 1st child and $12/month for each additional child), or drop-in for $7 per child.

Kids Zone is currently available to Ackerman SFC members only. Spots are limited to 15 kids per class; please call ahead to the front desk at (630) 317-0130 to reserve spots prior to your arrival. Drop-ins will be accepted if space is available on a first come first serve basis. Members must remain in the building while their children are in the Kid Zone. Children participating must be at least 2 years of age and potty trained. See our calendar for upcoming Kid Zone classes here.

Champions of Ackerman

Do you have what it takes to be the best of the best? Prove that you are the strongest at Ackerman SFC by entering our inaugural weightlifting competition. This 6-week course will have you logging in your best Olympic lifts (bench press, deadlift, and squat verified by a staff member) against your fellow members for a chance to win the championship belt. Gender/weight classes to follow. Champions of Ackerman is free to Ackerman SFC members and will take place April 20 through May 27. Come kick off the program at one of the two group orientations on April 20 at 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Women’s Self Defense Seminar

This complimentary 1.5-hour course is designed to introduce adult women participants (18 years of age and older) to basic techniques that develops self-confidence and the ability to defend oneself physically in a dangerous or potentially lethal situation. Instructed by Master Raul, a Veteran of the USMC (United States Marine Core) and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu champion. Drop-in on Saturday, April 23 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The seminar is free to members; members are also invited to bring one guest for free.

Monday Miles

Monday Miles, our annual summer program geared toward those who want to participate in a walking/running program, is now kicking off in spring with some new twists. Participants run or walk at their own pace on Mondays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. inside Ackerman SFC or outside on the trails within Ackerman Park. Record keeping is on the honor system and once you achieve 100 miles, you will earn a free t-shirt!

Other prize milestones include 500 miles, 1,000 miles, and 2,000 miles accumulated within 1 year. Participants will log their miles via Google Drive. Monday Miles is free to all Ackerman fitness and walking track members; non-members can drop in for just $3/week. Please call (630) 317-0130 or stop at the front desk to sign up.

Member Appreciation Day

As a recognition of your continued and loyal membership throughout the challenges of the past few years, Ackerman SFC is staging a Member Appreciation Day! Throughout the day and evening on Wednesday, May 4 Ackerman SFC will be celebrating and acknowledging our members with events, healthy snacks, giveaways, discounts, and an opportunity to win a FREE nutrition and personal training session!
