What We’re Doing to Help Keep You Safe

The health and safety of our members and staff is our top priority. We will continue to implement necessary guidelines from the CDC and public health agencies to ensure we are incorporating and enforcing the highest standard of cleanliness and safety in our facility.

Cleaning and Sanitation

  • Cleaning Protocols: In addition to existing cleaning protocols, we have a fitness attendant on the floor to keep up with cleaning throughout the day, and also have a deep cleaning in the evenings. A disinfecting electrostatic sprayer will be used daily throughout the facility maximizing staff and member safety.
  • Disinfection Procedures: We will continue to use hospital-grade, EPA-registered disinfectants that are COVID-19 approved. Additional cleaning supplies will be made available for wiping down equipment before and after use.
  • Hand Sanitizer: Hand sanitizer are available throughout the facility. Members are asked to use hand sanitizer frequently throughout their visit.
  • Self-Cleaning Stations: Members are expected to use a disinfectant spray on all equipment before and after use in addition to Ackerman’s cleaning protocols. Our spray is approved by the EPA for use against COVID-19. After wiping down, please place sign on the equipment indicating that the machine also needs to be cleaned by the attendant on duty. Signs are at the cleaning stations.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Members: Face coverings are required in all areas of the facility. Please inform staff if you have a medical condition that limits your ability to wear a face covering.
  • Staff: Ackerman SFC team members will be required to wear face coverings at all times. Gloves will only be required when performing cleaning duties.
  • Barrier: Plexiglass barriers have been installed at the front desk.

Health Checks

  • Staff: Daily self-wellness checks are required before reporting for work. Staff will be sent home if exhibiting any symptoms of illness.
  • Members: Members are expected to stay home if exhibiting any symptoms of illness. Temperatures will not be taken on-site for patrons.

Go Contactless

Members may scan themselves in using their membership card for a contactless transaction with check-in staff.

Safe Space

  • Floor decals are in place to help visualize proper social distancing in the lobby.
  • Equipment has been spaced or moved to facilitate social distancing.

Personal Training

Trainers will maintain a 6-foot distance from clients and will avoid any hands-on adjustments that are typical in one-on-one training. As much as possible, trainers will work with higher risk clients in various areas of the building that have not been previously utilized.

Cardio & Strength Floor Etiquette

  • Equipment: Has been spaced or moved to the rock wall/loft area to facilitate proper social distancing. Where equipment could not be safely spaced, plexiglass barriers are in place.
  • PPE: Face coverings are required in all areas of the facility. Please inform staff if you have a medical condition that limits your ability to wear a face covering.

Changes to Group Exercise

  • Limited Capacity & Registration: Classes will be modified in alignment with Restore Illinois Plan Tier or Phase guidelines.
  • Equipment: Class participants are asked to bring their own exercise mats and towels to each class. Used equipment (weights, etc.) will be set aside for sanitation by Ackerman staff prior to use by another participant.
  • Adjustments: No hands-on adjustments will occur during group exercise classes.

Changes to Open Courts/Turf

Members are asked to register in advance of their visit for open court and open turf at gepark.org/register. Open court and turf will be limited to 15 members per available time slot. Open court and turf is not currently available to non-members.
