Collection for Glen Ellyn Cares on Thursday, May 14

The Glen Ellyn Cares fundraiser was started by the Chamber in order to assist struggling local restaurant owners by buying meals to be donated to staff at local hospitals. If you are able to help, any level of support makes a difference and is greatly appreciated! Cash or check donations will be accepted from 1pm to 6pm at Ackerman SFC on May 14th. After you donate, a photo backdrop is available so you can customize a thank you sign for essential workers and snap a selfie! Please bring your own marker or pen.

Blood drive at Ackerman SFC on May 18. Be a beacon of hope!

Help ensure a healthy blood supply in Illinois by donating at the upcoming blood drive at Ackerman SFC, 800 St. Charles Road, on Monday, May 18. Appointments, available from 1 to 6pm, are required in order to control the number of people at the site at a given time and to ensure safe social distancing (no walk-ins). Keeping in compliance with our state’s ordinance, donors will be required to bring and wear face masks during the donation process.

National Fitness Day, held on the first Saturday in May, is an opportunity to try new ways of becoming fit and healthy! During this stressful time, exercise is also important to maintaining good physical and mental health. This Saturday, get up and get MOVING, any way you can!

Food Drive for Glen Ellyn Food Pantry & Pet Food Drive on May 7th

As more of our community members begin to lose jobs and income, the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry is in urgent need of items. To make it even more convenient to donate, we’ve partnered with Glen Ellyn Food Pantry and Kiwanis Club of Central DuPage County to host a “drive-thru drop-off” food drive at Ackerman SFC on Thursday, May 7th from 1:30pm-6pm. New and unopened pet food products (bagged, canned, treats) will also be collected at that time. When dropping off your donation, please follow the signs toward the front entrance drive. Read More »

Ackerman SFC closed to the public effective 10 p.m. on Monday, March 16th

The Glen Ellyn Park District has been monitoring the Coronavirus situation closely, and the health and well-being of our residents and members is our top priority. Based on the newest recommendations from the Center for Disease Control, we will be closing Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center to the public beginning at 10pm on Monday, March 16, 2020, through April 6, 2020, at the earliest. Glen Ellyn Park District Cancellations and Closures Beginning Friday, March 13th at 3:30 p.m.

In light of District 41, CCSD 89, and District 87’s decision to close buildings and convert to e-learning, and for the safety and health of our patrons, staff, and community, the Glen Ellyn Park District will also be cancelling all classes (including Preschool), events, practices, group fitness classes, and drop-in programs, and closing Main Street Recreation Center to the public, beginning on Friday, March 13th at 3:30 p.m., until further notice. Each day brings new information regarding the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The purpose of this communication is to let our residents know that the Glen Ellyn Park District is monitoring updates from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) relative to the current situation. For the time being, we are focused on ensuring that our staff and patrons are aware and take preventative measures to protect themselves from getting sick or stop the potential spread of illness to others.
