The Mile is Making a Comeback!

Registration is now open for the NEW Lake Ellyn 1-Mile Classic & Kids Dash on Sunday, September 18. Run or walk a one-mile loop around Lake Ellyn Park taking in the majestic views of Lake Ellyn and the quintessential community of Glen Ellyn during this beautiful time of year. Blood & Food Drive on August 23

The need for blood and food donations is still high during the summer months. You can help by donating at our blood and food drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. August 23 at Ackerman SFC. Drop off non-perishable food items and toiletries for the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry at the main entrance. Blood donors will receive a Versiti water bottle while supplies last.

Go Green Glen Ellyn and Glen Ellyn Park District Announce Second SportSwap to Help Gently Used Sporting Equipment Find a New Home

Glen Ellyn Park District and Go Green Glen Ellyn are holding their second SportSwap on Saturday, July 23 from 1:00-3:00 p.m., allowing residents to recycle their gently used sporting goods equipment by trading it in for other items they might need in the upcoming fall sport season. Read More »

Community Passes Glen Ellyn Park District Referendum

The Glen Ellyn Park District referendum request for $15.9 million to repair, improve and expand facilities, upgrade four park properties throughout the district, and purchase additional land for parks has been approved, according to preliminary results as reported by DuPage County Clerk – Election Division.

Freedom Four 4-Mile Run/Walk Day-of-Race Parking

Residents are encouraged to walk, bike or carpool to the Glen Ellyn Park District’s Freedom Four 4-Mile Run/Walk, as there is no parking on Lenox or the roads surrounding Lake Ellyn Park. The commuter parking lots, including the Duane and Lorraine parking lot and the Civic Center parking garage, will remain open. Please click here to view the Village of Glen Ellyn’s interactive parking map and be sure to follow all posted signage. Limited parking will be available in the Glenbard West parking lot across from Duchon Field for Freedom Four 4-Mile Run/Walk participants. All cars must be removed from this lot by 10:00 a.m. 

Voting in the Primary Election on June 28

This year’s Primary Election is held Tuesday, June 28, 2022. It is a very important date because you will be able to vote for candidates pursuing elected office, and you have the opportunity to vote on the Glen Ellyn Park District bond referendum.

This $15.9 million bond referendum will raise revenue to repair, improve and expand park facilities, upgrade four parks spread across the district, and purchase additional land for parks. If approved, the referendum will benefit these specific projects:

  • Improve, equip and maintain Sunset Pool
  • Expand, improve, equip and maintain Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center
  • Improve, equip and maintain Babcock Grove Park, Churchill Park, Lake Foxcroft Park, and the Lenox Road parcel
  • Make additional park and athletic improvements district wide
  • Acquire land to expand parks in the future

As a Glen Ellyn resident, you can vote at any DuPage County voting site. Click here to view a list of polling places for DuPage County on June 28, Primary Election Day, including Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center (800 St. Charles Road) and Spring Avenue Recreation Center (185 Spring Avenue). Polls will be open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Referendum Open House on June 8

Residents that would like to learn more about the Glen Ellyn Parks Referendum are encouraged to attend the upcoming Open House on Wednesday, June 8 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Spring Avenue Recreation Center. Please feel free to stop by and ask questions so you can make an informed decision when you vote on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. June 1 is Member Appreciation Day

Ackerman SFC is saying “thank you” to our members on Wednesday, June 1 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy complimentary beverages and snacks, and enter raffles to win personal training sessions, nutrition sessions, or a free month memberships to give away to a friend. 5 winners will be chosen for each raffle. 

Members are also invited to bring a guest for free from 4:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Glen Ellyn Park District, Jewel-Osco Pharmacy, and State Representative Terra Costa Howard are hosting a joint vaccine clinic on April 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center, 800 St. Charles Road. Coronavirus Update: Mask Policy

On February 9, Governor Pritzker announced plans to partially lift Illinois’ indoor mask mandate as of February 28, assuming state COVID metrics continue to decline.

As the Glen Ellyn Park District has done throughout the pandemic, we will adhere to State requirements by implementing a mask optional approach within Park District programs, events, and facilities for participants, visitors, and staff, effective Monday, February 28. Prior to that date, all participants, patrons, and employees must still wear face coverings inside Park District buildings. Read More »
