Fourth of July Closures and Hours

Park District facilities will be closed or have special hours on Thursday, July 4, 2024, in observance of Independence Day. Click here to view all facility hours.

  • For information on delayed openings or facility closures at Sunset Pool, Holes & Knolls, and Maryknoll Splash Park due to inclement or cold weather, please visit the Park District hotline line at gepark.org/hotline. Here, you can also check for updates on the Freedom Four 4-Mile Run/Walk.
  • The 4th of July parade and fireworks are organized by the Fourth of July Committee, an all-volunteer organization in Glen Ellyn. For more information on these events, visit their website at: glenellyn4thofjuly.org

Fitness membership special: 90 days for $90

Take a break from school…not from fitness! To help students (and teachers) start or maintain a fitness routine while school’s out, we’re offering a great deal! For a limited time, buy a 90-day short-term membership to Ackerman SFC for just $90. The membership includes use of the weights, machines, cardio equipment, indoor track, and unlimited group fitness classes.

Get your membership today at the Ackerman SFC front desk. Offer available May 1, 2024 – June 15, 2024. Must be a current high school student, college student, or teacher age 14 and older, and show valid student ID or proof of employment at time of purchase.

Give Back: Blood & Food Drive

Make a difference! Join us for a Blood and Food Drive on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 9 am to 1:30 pm at Ackerman SFC. Your generosity can help save lives and assist those in need. Walk-ins are welcome for the blood drive, though appointments are recommended. Click here to book yours in advance.

In addition to the blood drive, we are also collecting non-perishable food items and toiletries for donation to the Glen House Food Pantry. Every contribution counts!

Free Week at Ackerman SFC: May 13-19

Try Ackerman SFC for free! We’re thrilled to offer complimentary access to the fitness center and group fitness classes from May 13-19, 2024. Just stop by the Ackerman SFC front desk during Free Week to experience all we have to offer! Must be 18 years of age or older with a valid ID or must be accompanied by an adult if under 18.

Important Notice – Ackerman SFC Delayed Opening on March 22

Attention Ackerman SFC Members! Thanks to the 2022 voter-approved referendum, we’re upgrading your workout experience! To install new HVAC units for the recently renovated first and second-floor fitness studios, we’ll be opening Ackerman SFC a bit later than usual on Friday, March 22nd. Due to a helicopter lift for this project, facility access will be delayed until around 1 pm for everyone’s safety. We apologize for any inconvenience and will keep you updated on the Glen Ellyn Park District hotline (gepark.org/hotline) if there are any changes, or an earlier opening becomes possible. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!

Rock Your Socks Collection Drive

In honor of World Down Syndrome Day on Thursday, March 21, we’re partnering with the Rock Your Socks Drive to collect new, unused socks for People’s Resource Center. Ackerman Arcade Night on January 26

Ackerman SFC is transforming into an arcade adventure for a one-night-only family event on Friday, January 26, from 6-8:30 pm! Play life-size Battleship, LED foosball, Classic Pac-Man, glow-in-the-dark mini golf, Connect-4, bags, and more. Vehicle break-ins tend to increase during the holiday season, as thieves take advantage of busy shoppers and easy targets. It’s important to take precautions to protect your belongings and your vehicle, such as removing valuables, keeping your keys with you, and locking your car when shopping or visiting our parks and facilities. An unlocked car with visible valuables is an easy target for potential theft.

Glen Ellyn Park District’s Ackerman Park Softball Fields Earn First DarkSky Approval in the State

Ackerman Park’s softball fields, part of the Glen Ellyn Park District, have achieved DarkSky approval, making them the first outdoor sports complex in Illinois to receive this certification.

The DarkSky Outdoor Sports Lighting Program is a certification process designed to help communities reduce light pollution while maintaining adequate lighting for outdoor sports activities. The award is reserved for outdoor lighting solutions that have been proven to substantially reduce light pollution relative to non-certified facilities of similar functions. Read More »
