Drive-Thru Drop-Off Food Drive on February 25

The COVID-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented demand on food pantries, including our own Glen Ellyn Food Pantry. Many of our neighbors are facing food insecurity right now, some for the first time in their lives. Please consider donating non-perishable food items and toiletries any time between 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Thursday, February 25, at Ackerman SFC, 800 St. Charles Road. Those wishing to donate should drive up to the main entrance and stay in their vehicles. Volunteers will unload their donations. View the Pantry’s needs list »

Free Live Fitness Classes

We’re offering FREE virtual fitness classes to our community ranging from Tabata to Barre this February. Classes will take place live via Zoom. Do you have to be an Ackerman SFC member? No, classes are open to both members and non-members! View the schedule and sign by clicking here.

Ackerman SFC returns to normal operating hours

Ackerman SFC will return to normal hours of operation on Tuesday, January 5, 2021:

  • Monday-Thursday: 4:30am-10pm
  • Friday: 4:30am-9pm
  • Saturday: 6am-7pm
  • Sunday: 7am-7pm

Adjusted Facility Hours

Ackerman SFC has temporarily adjusted its facility hours until further notice as follows:

  • Monday-Thursday: 4:30am-9pm
  • Friday: 4:30am-8pm
  • Saturday: 6am-6pm
  • Sunday: 7am-6pm

The facility will also observe the following holiday hours: 7am-1pm December 24, 7am-1pm December 31, and 7am-3pm January 1. Ackerman SFC is closed on Christmas Day (December 25).

Blood Drive on December 23

Help ensure a healthy blood supply in Illinois by donating at our upcoming blood drive on Wednesday, December 23rd from 1 to 6pm. The SARS CoV-2 antibody test will be performed on all successful donations. Under Tier 3 guidelines, appointments are required and walk-ups will not be accepted. We kindly ask you only reserve a time slot if you are sure you can attend as the number of donors we can accept is limited (blue time slots are open, gray time slots are full).  Read More »

Please note, Open Pickleball will not be offered the week of November 29-December 5.

Thanksgiving Holiday Hours

In observance of the holiday, Spring Avenue and Main Street Recreation Centers will be closed November 26 and November 27. Ackerman SFC will be open 7am-1pm November 26 and 4:30am-9pm November 27. Happy Thanksgiving!

Group Fitness Registration: In-Person & Virtual Classes

Under Tier 3 guidelines, group fitness reservations are required to take part in in-person classes. All classes will be socially distanced and limited to 10 participants. For those uncomfortable attending in-person classes, instructors will be offering live virtual classes via Zoom. New class schedules will be released every two weeks.  Read More »

Governor Pritzker announced on Tuesday that all of Illinois will move to Tier 3 of resurgence mitigations beginning Friday, November 20. While the new guidelines further impact Glen Ellyn Park District programs and services, they are the safest and most responsible way for us to serve our community. Tier 3 Resurgence Mitigations

Governor Pritzker announced today that all of Illinois will enter Tier 3 resurgence mitigations beginning Friday, November 20. While anticipating increased restrictions, the District is in the process of evaluating how our programs and facilities align with the new guidelines. As always, the goal is to be both resourceful and compliant while determining how the Park District can continue to safely serve our community. Turkey Burn & Food Drive on November 26

Work off those pre-dinner calories and support the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry during the Turkey Burn & Food Drive at Ackerman SFC on Thursday, November 26th from 7 to 10am. Classes include Cycle, AOA, Tabata, BODYPUMP, Yoga, and more. The Turkey Burn is free to Ackerman SFC or $5 for non-members with a food/toiletry donation item. No registration required, but classes are limited to no more than 25 participants. View the schedule >

Sign up for one or more time slots below to take part in a variety of fitness and youth classes, tour the facility, and learn about our personal training options. Free Fitness Orientation on November 12

Get a jumpstart on your fitness goals during this free 60-minute orientation starting at 6:30pm on Thursday, November 12. Stacey Lim, Assistant Facility Manager/Fitness, will go through a variety of exercises and sample workout plans for participants. She will also conduct a walk-through of the facility and explain how to properly use fitness equipment. The orientation will end with a question and answer session, and is open to both members and nonmembers. No registration required.

Drive-Thru Drop-Off Food Drive on October 27

Help your neighbors in need by donating food and toiletry items to restock the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry from 1 to 6pm on Tuesday, October 27 at Ackerman SFC. All you need to do is drive-thru and pop your trunk. Volunteers will be there to collect your items in a no-contact, safe way. View urgently needed items >

Food Drive at Ackerman SFC on Sept. 23

Support the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry by dropping off urgently needed items at Ackerman SFC from 1 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23. On the day of the event, please follow directional signs for curbside drop off. Items needed include oatmeal canisters, canned fruit, jelly, sugar, ketchup, mustard, cookies, crackers, Manwich Sloppy Joe Sauce, canned mushrooms, Hamburger Helper, and canned pasta.
